IEEE Std 1903-2 pdf free download.Service Composition Protocols of Next Generation Service Overlay Network.
4. General introduction
NGSON defines the SC FE to support service composition. This FE interacts with other FEs in order to discover concrete services, negotiate with candidate services, get context information, request service routing, and request service invocation. The interactions among different FEs are carried via their reference points defined in NGSON. The following figure ilustrates the overall NGSON reference diagram according to IEEE Std 1903-2011, in which the bold boxes and lines are the FEs and interfaces supporting content delivery capabilities.7 This standard specifies the protocols on each interface among these FEs, including protocol operations, protocol specification, and the relevant procedures. An end-user, NGSON, and service providers interact with the underlying networks (e.g., IMS, NGN, legacy IP networks, P2P overlay networks) for service (or content) delivery and policy enforcement. An end-user requests a service to NGSON and receives the service response from NGSON. The services are provided by service (or content) providers and NGSON authorizes them. NGSON receives a service request from an end-user, and makes service provision and consumption with service compositions by the deployment of context-aware, dynamic adaptation, and self-organizing networking capabilities. This document standardizes the SC aspects of the NGSON. The FEs and the interfaces being described in this standard are highlighted in the following overall functional diagram (Figure 1).
A composite service can be defined as a service that is composed of more than one open service containing the logic or behaviors of the composed services. Service composition mechanisms support a natural way of combining open services registered in public service domains and performing the execution sequence of composed services. Therefore, developers can specify the execution logic of new composite services reusing the open services already developed. In this way, the use of service composition mechanisms allows a rapid and easy way to create new services reducing, consequently, the cost of service development. Different types of service composition approaches and mechanisms are utilized especially in SOA based web services. Depending on the grade of user involvement in composition process, there are manually user defined, semi-automatic, and automatic approaches. Considering the procedure or steps followed in the composition process, there are template based, instance based, declarative, workflow, AI planning, and ontology based approaches. Finall, based on the amount of dynamicity involved in the composition process, there are static and dynamic approaches. NGSON provides a service framework with a set of functional entities that are responsible to provide relevant functions to fulfill context-awareness, dynamic service adaptation, service composition, content delivery, and self-organizing management. NGSON supports both static and dynamic service composition approaches in the level of service overlay networks. For the static service composition, the service logic is specified in the design time and it will be executed exactly according to the service chain designed. On the other hand, for the dynamic service composition, the service chain will be created in run time adapting service environment conditions for the service execution and delivery to users.
